Well I wouldn’t consider myself a professional voice actor by any regards, but I can do enough to get by. I always found that playing with impressions in your spare time when you’re just goofing around the house or hanging out with friends always helps develop your range. In these imitated voices you might even find inspiration for a new voice! As for technique, I remember I took one really brief class in 2005 with an actor and he said something about talking from your diaphragm? In all, just don’t be afraid to really let yourself go. There’s a big distinction between just talking into the microphone with your natural speaking voice and really pushing your inflections, pronunciation and flow. Try acting with your hands while doing the lines, but never move away from the microphone, stay on that shit. As for equipment, I wish I could be a help there, but it’s really not something I’m very familiar with.
Also totally awesome you realized that Ash and Flappers have the same voice. Arin has commented on it before, you’re totally right.
